SC woman sets up showers for military moms-to-be

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” A South Carolina Army wife is holding baby showers to honor pregnant women whose husbands are deployed. Melissa Revel says the idea came to her this year when she was pregnant with her third child and didn’t want to feel sorry for herself because her husband was away. So, the 29-year-old Sumter woman says, she decided to reach out to other moms in similar situations, with Army or Air Force spouses deployed. She’s set to hold her third shower Thursday near Shaw Air Force Base with new items donated by companies and volunteers. Revel says the showers give the women a support group at a time when they might need a boost.
