USO SC holds fundraising dinner, silent auction

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Those wishing to offer support for the nation’s military and their families in South Carolina are holding a fundraising dinner. The USO South Carolina dinner and silent auction is scheduled for Thursdayl. The event helps the organization support troops and their families. The USO runs a welcome center for troops at the Columbia airport. It also prepares supply bags to cheer military men and women while deployed. USO director Joanie Thresher says the reception and auction begin at 5:30 p.m. The dinner and program are set to begin at 7 p.m. Individual tickets are $75 and reserved tables for eight are $500.
