COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — A Lexington gas station sold the winning ticket for the $400 million Powerball jackpot.

The Murphy Express store on Highway 1 near I-20 sold the ticket.  It’s worth $400 million, $399,400,000 to be exact, and is the fourth largest jackpot in game history. It is the largest jackpot in the state to date.  South Carolina Education Lottery Executive Director, Paula Harper Bethea, admits she hopes the winner is ‘home grown.’  She also wants to focus on what she calls the true purpose of the game.

“The lottery is about who we [as a state] want to become.  it is about underpinning and improving education.”

Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing was held at 10:59pm. Here are the winning numbers: 7, 10. 22. 32 and 35.

The Powerball number is 19.

Odds of winning are 1 in 176 million. If the winner chooses a lump sum cash payout, that would be $223 million.  If the winner chooses an annuity, he or she would receive the total lottery amount over 29 years, at $13 million a year.
