Woman dies in fire in Berkeley County
CROSS, S.C. (AP) — A woman has died in a fire at a mobile home in Berkeley County. The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Cross community. Firefighters say two structures caught fire at a fishing camp. Moncks Corner Rural Fire Chief Scott Lee says the woman was trapped in the fire and died. Lee says a man in the home was able to escape. The woman’s name has not been released. The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
