Authorities: Early CPR/Defibrillation Save School Resource Officer

CAMDEN, S.C. (WOLO) – A Kershaw County school resource officer is in critical condition at an area hospital, but authorities say Rob Evans is alive because of early CPR and defibrillation.
Evans was directing traffic this afternoon along Wildewood Lane next to Wateree Elementary School in Camden when he collapsed.
Lugoff Fire Chief Dennis Ray, who happened to be picking up his daughter, says Evans went into full cardiac arrest.
While he called for help, two other parents who are nurses started to give Evans mouth-to-mouth.
Ray says they were able to get Evans’ heart to start again after shocking it.
