City Cites “The Library” over Business License
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — After being closed for almost one week, “The Library,” a Five Points club, reportedly opened back up over the weekend. But, it was short lived. City officials confirm that early Sunday morning the club was cited for operating without a business license.
The signs that once read, “The Library,” outside of the Five Points club are gone. The future of the establishment is unanswered.
Overnight Saturday into Sunday morning, we learned the club, that’s been at the heart of controversy over the past few weeks was in trouble yet again.
This time the City of Columbia’s Hospitality Task Force caught “The Library,” operating without a business license.
By Monday afternoon, city officials confirmed the license was found proper.
We reached out to the city for more answers concerning the license, but multiple calls went unanswered.
We also contacted Library owner, Justin Kershner, by phone to talk about the situation. He declined comment.
This comes on the heels of “The Library,” being deemed a gang hangout by Sheriff Leon Lott a couple weeks ago.
That was followed by the owners nearly losing the business because of a $19,000 tax debt. The owners confirmed that debt was paid on November 8, 2013.
Still, they decided not to open.
Fast forward to this weekend and the club was reportedly up and running, at least for a short while.
