Free Breast Cancer Screenings

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Palmetto Health Richland is offering residents who are uninsured or under insured access to free breast cancer screenings.
Surgical Oncologist, Dr. Amanda Arrington says breast cancer health should be on the top of your list of priorities long after Breast Cancer Awareness month is over. Especially since 1 in 8 women will be affected by the disease in their lifetime.
Health officials say they wanted to offer this program because of how much you can reduce your risk just by getting screenings which could lead to early detection.
Woman are not the only ones who can get breast cancer either, doctors say men are at risk of getting the disease as well.
If you are over the age of 40 and live in Richland County, Lexington County, or Fairfield County you may be eligible for a free screening.
