Governor’s Annual Carol Lighting

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
It has been a time honored tradition for the past 47 years. Hundreds packed the state house lawn to ring in the holiday season with family, friends and classic Christmas favorites like “joy to the World” and “Silent Night”.
This year people gathered under the 36 foot high, 15 feet wide tree complete with 12 thousand LED lights and 9 hundred ornaments. Still, that was not the main focus of the night. Families we spoke with say while the tree is beautiful and a definite draw each year, they found more joy in being able to spend time with family.
During the Governor’s speech she also urged South Carolinians to take take time this holiday to think about giving instead of getting, by challenging everyone in the state to preform one random act of kindness.
