Honoring our Veterans

(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., —
They served proudly, fought bravely and in some case paid the ultimate sacrifice, laying down their lives for our country. But while some reflect on the sobering reality of the wars and service of our country’s bravest, some Columbia veterans say it wasn’t so much about grief as it was about sharing their common thread.
A group celebrated together at the VFW on North Main Street, dancing and laughing as they told stories of battle and survival but mostly of strength and courage.
Many of the Veterans say while they are happy to have a day that honors them for their service, they say an even greater honor would be to know that what they fought and in some cases died for is remembered throughout the year.
