Life sentence for SC man in bar stool beating

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — A West Columbia man has been sentenced to life in prison for beating a man to death two years ago. Prosecutor Donnie Myers said Tuesday that 31-year-old Demetriss Alshawn Glenn was found guilty last week on charges of murder, burglary and armed robbery. Authorities say 45-year-old Timothy Tice was found dead in the kitchen of his home on Lake Murray in June 2011. Tice was in a pool of blood, and investigators say he had been beaten to death with a bar stool. Witnesses testified Glenn and two others targeted Tice, planning to steal money and guns but beat him when Tice resisted.
