Midlands Residents React to Obama’s ACA “Fix”
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “It’s crazy, everybody needs health insurance,” says Amy Carter, resident
While President Obama issued, what he calls, a “fix” for the millions of Americans who have lost their insurance coverage some says it’s upsetting.
“I would be mad, If I paid for private insurance and it got cancelled because of something he did. I would be very mad,” says Carter
Thursday, President Obama announced insurers can extend current plans into next year, meaning Americans can keep their insurance plans for at least one more year.
“If it’s okay to extend it, why is not okay to keep it?,” says Jonathan Steward, resident
This comes after news broke several weeks ago that Americans were receiving cancellation letters, despite President Obama saying they would be able to keep their insurance coverage, if they liked it.
This issue mounts on top of the problem-plagued www.healthcare.gov website that, as of today, has only had just over 106,000 people enroll. Twenty-seven million people have reportedly visited the site.
“It’s huge legislation for this country. I understand it’s very different. My hope is that all the kinks in the system will be worked out,” says Margaret Delorme, resident.
Outside of the Midlands, the approval rating for the Affordable Care Act is dropping. According to a new Gallup poll, only 40% of Americans now approve of the ACA.
“This is on me, I mean we fumbled the roll out on this healthcare law,” says Obama.
