Rain, but not wintery weather heading for SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” Forecasters expect a steady rain across South Carolina on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The National Weather Service said the precipitation could start as sleet in northern parts of the state before dawn Tuesday, but a quick change to rain shouldn’t allow it to stick.
Forecasters say more than 2 inches of rain could fall in some areas Tuesday. It will be a cold rain in the Upstate, where the temperature might not make it out of the 30s. It will be in the 40s in the Midlands, while the coast could see highs approaching the 70s.
The weather service says severe storms are possible along the coast from Charleston into North Carolina.
Officials are asking people to clean leaves from gutters and storm drains.
