Scam Alert:Orangeburg

Orangeburg, S.C. (WOLO)– A scam alert for residents in Orangeburg.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says someone received a check that said they won a $250,000 in a North American Consumers sweepstakes and all they had to do was write an almost $4,000 check to help the winner pay for insurance, handling, and shipping fees.
Ravenell says this is a scam and warns residents  to be leery of any emails, phone calls, or letters, claiming you are a sweepstakes winner or the heir to an inheritance.
