Speaker Bobby Harrell Responds to Ethics Probe

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Republican Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives, Bobby Harrell, is under investigation for possible ethics violations.
The state’s top attorney, Attorney General Alan Wilson, is reviewing allegations of ethics violations against Harrell. A spokesperson for Wilson states the attorney general received a ‘voluminous’ report from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Agency (SLED) Friday. In February, South Carolina Policy Council President, Ashley Landess, accused Harrell of using his influence to get a permit for his pharmaceutical business. The council also took issue with Harrell appointing his brother to a panel responsible for screening judicial candidates.
Through a spokesperson, Harrell responded to the probe by saying, “I’m glad the report is over at the AG’s office. I’m looking forward to having all of this behind us.”
