Tips to protect you during Cold Snap
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Snow-covered cars, ice on windows and sleet and rain surprised the Midlands. Those kinds of conditions aren’t normally seen until January or February. However, there are some things you can do now, to protect what’s valuable to you.
Bring pets indoors. Don’t assume their fur will keep them warm in extremely low temperatures. Cover outdoor plants with frost cloth; blankets and sheets will also do the trick. Or, you can also bring them indoors if possible. Lastly, you can purchase insulation for pipes in your home at any hardware store. Experts say this could make a big difference by preventing pipes from bursting and possibly causing a flood in your home.
While temperatures are expected to be warmer later this week, experts say now is the time to prepare for Old Man Winter, especially since he began his visit to the Midlands early.
