SC Commerce: Orian rugs to bring 125 jobs in 2014

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A family firm that manufactures machine-woven rugs is expanding in Anderson County and expects to add 125 jobs this year.

The South Carolina Department of Commerce said Tuesday that Orian Rugs is undergoing a $13 million expansion of its headquarters, paving the way to the new jobs.

Orian Rugs president Wim De Pape says the firm appreciates the support the state has given it during its 35 years of business in Anderson.

The rug company employs more than 500 people in its 550,000-square-foot facility. Since its opening, it has acquired three carpet companies in Belgium and Turkey in addition to its South Carolina headquarters.
