Winter Wallop continues with ice

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — After days of warning of a 1-2 punch with this round of winter weather, the second punch is here with a vengeance. Just as a jab is a weaker punch to the straight or the cross, this second storm is packing much more of a problem during this Wednesday into Thursday morning. The National Weather Service in Columbia continues a Winter Storm Warning for the entire viewing area throughout the rest of the day into Thursday, expiring at Noon. While a little bit of snow moved into the area, the weather quickly switched over into sleet and freezing rain, and this is of great concern. Power lines and roadways are going to be paralyzed if ice accumulations of 0.25″-1.00″ come to pass. Please stay indoors through the duration of this storm, especially since the roadway conditions will deteriorate rapidly during the day. We will keep you posted online and on the air throughout the day with this winter storm. You can reach the ABC Columbia Weather team on Facebook and Twitter with Chief Meteorologist Reg Taylor (@regtaylortv) and Jonathan Oh (@johontv).
