Woman dies in fire in Summerton

SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) — A Clarendon County woman has died in a fire at her home in Summerton.

The Sumter Item reported (http://bit.ly/1jRlDLk) that 83-year-old Earthy L. McCray died in the fire Wednesday morning. Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock says McCray was found near a door in one of the rooms.

An autopsy is planned.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The State Law Enforcement Division is assisting in the investigation.
