Police: Unlocked cars become target of thefts

LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO) – Police say a number of unlocked cars became a prime target in the Town of Lexington. It happened early Wednesday morning in the Woodcreek neighborhood. Officers say items were taken, ranging from cigarettes and sunglasses to laptops and a handgun. However, some of them were recovered – shortly afterward. Officers believe those responsible may have been spooked. Lexington’s police chief wants to make sure you don’t become a victim of car theft. He’s offering some simple tips: Be sure to remove all valuables from your car when it’s left unattended. Lock your car. Park in well-lit, highly visible areas.
