Charges Upgraded in Five Month Old’s Death

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Charges have been upgraded against a mother accused in the death of her five month old son. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the case. Tuesday we learned the accused, Jennifer Coles, was charged with Homicide by Child Abuse/Neglect. Last month Coles was charged with Child Neglect after, deputies say her five month old son, Bryson Webb died because he didn’t have a prescribed heart monitor. Coles is accused of not using the monitor that was, according to officials, supposed to be used every day for 24 hours a day. She’s now accused of not giving Webb the medicine he needed to survive. The night Webb stopped breathing, deputies say they found his heart monitor in the trunk of Coles’ car under a pile of clothes. We’re told the monitor hadn’t been used for about a month. Coles turned herself in this week.
