Man charged with murder in Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man wanted in a shooting death at a Columbia apartment has turned himself in to Richland County deputies.
Investigators said 26-year-old Channen Ricks was charged Monday with murder.
Deputies say Ricks got into a fight with two men inside an apartment around 5:30 a.m. Sunday and was able to take a gun from one of the men during the confrontation.
Authorities say the two men jumped out of a window and started to run, while Ricks chased after them, firing the gun.
Deputies say the victim was struck several times. His name has not been released.
Ricks remains at the Richland County jail. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
