2-year-old Columbia boy drowns in family’s pool

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 2-year-old boy has drowned in a pool at his family’s home in Columbia.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Jeremy Myers Jr. was able to get to the pool Sunday morning after his 3-year-old sister climbed on a piece of children’s furniture to unlock the door to the pool.

Watts says Richland County deputies are investigating the drowning, but all evidence gathered so far points toward a tragic accident.

Watts says an autopsy Sunday confirmed the boy drowned.
