Pharmaceuticals plant opening in West Columbia
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A multi-million-dollar pharmaceuticals plant in Lexington County is officially opening.
On Wednesday, officials from Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp. are holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the company’s West Columbia facilities.
The Orlando, Florida, company said in 2011 it planned to build a $313 million plant on a 60-acre site near online retailer Amazon.com’s new facility, bringing 700 jobs. CEO Lou Kennedy has said the new facility would help the company expand its market share and develop a pipeline of products.
Nephron has a facility in Orlando and distribution centers in Kentucky and Arizona.
