Woman shot to death at Lexington County bar

IRMO, S.C. (AP) — Lexington County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the weekend shooting death of a woman at a bar near Irmo.

Coroner Earl Wells says 22-year-old Shirley McKenzie of Columbia died minutes after she was shot early Saturday.

Deputies were called to the Cockpit Bar and Grill shortly before 4:30 a.m. Saturday. They found McKenzie lying on the floor in the bar.

No arrests have been reported. Detectives are interviewing a number of people who were in the bar at the time of the shooting.

There was no immediate word what sparked the shooting.
