Suspended Lex. Co.Sheriff Metts Free on $100,000 bond

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Suspended Lexington County Sheriff James Metts is free on $100,000 bond after appearing in Federal Court Tuesday. U.S. Attorney’s accuse Metts of taking bribes in exchange for helping illegal aliens who were detained in the county jail. Metts maintains his innocence. A judge ordered Metts to turn in his passport and surrender all of his weapons. He was given a $100,000 bond. Gov. Nikki Haley has suspended Metts from office, and Lewis McCarty is serving as acting sheriff.
