Gamecocks-Wildcats Tied 17-17 at the Half

LEXINGTON, KY (WOLO) — The South Carolina Gamecocks are tied with the Kentucky Wildcats 17-17 after one half of play. The Gamecocks controlled the clock early while establishing the running game with a time-consuming 19 play opening drive (17 which were running plays) which burned 12:35 off the clock and was capped off by a 1-yd Mike Davis touchdown. Davis finished with 9 carries for 41 yards on the drive. Davis went back to work on the following drive, facing 2nd and 28 after a South Carolina fumble and recovery, and took a pitch from Dylan Thompson 41-yards to pick up the first. Davis capped off the drive with another 1-yard TD run to start the 2nd quarter. Kentucky got on the board with just under ten minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, after Jojo Kemp took it in for the score from 3 yards out. South Carolina would respond with a 31-yard field goal from Elliot Fry to increase their lead 17-7. Kentucky would follow with a 38-yd touchdown run from Braylon Heard to cut the lead to three. A Dylan Thompson interception before the half would allow Kentucky to tie the game up with a field goal. Mike Davis had 15 carries for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns after the first half.
