Harrell Pleads Guilty, Resigns

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Suspended Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell pleaded guilty Thursday morning to six counts of misuse of campaign funds for personal expenses. Harrell was sentenced to six years which was suspended to three years of probation and a fine of $30,000. Four additional charges against Harrell are not being dismissed. Harrell is also required to resign as speaker of the house and not seek re-election for three years. He is also required to reimburse the state $93,958. In addition Harrell will be required to testify in other cases and take a polygraph, if he fails to comply with this the terms of his plea deal will be void.
