Anderson County Deadly Chase

(WOLO) ANDERSON COUNTY,S.C., — Officials in Anderson County say three men are dead after they tried to elude police and the car they were riding in crashed into a tree. Local media outlets report Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said a deputy responding to a shoplifting call at a convenience store Friday saw a car speed past him. Authorities say the car was not related to the call. The sheriff’s office said deputies pursued the car for nearly 30 minutes, and also tried to deploy stop sticks but failed to stop the car. A deputy spotted the vehicle and turned to pursue it. Authorities said the car apparently sped up, then spun and slammed into a tree. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash. (Source: Associated Press)
