Gov. Wants To Lower Tariff On Tires Made By Company Coming To S.C.

Columbia, SC (WOLO)- Governor Nikki Haley wants the U.S. Commerce Department to lower a tariff on tires made in China by a company planning a 5-hundred 60 million dollar plant in South Carolina. “The Herald” of Rock Hill reports the governor wrote a letter to the agency saying the 18 percent tax in-equitably affects Giti (gee-tee) Tire’s business. The plant is expected to employ 17- hundred workers.
