Coroner Identifies victim in USC Campus Shooting

COLUMBIA, SC — Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has released information concerning the shooting incident that happened Thursday at the University of South Carolina. The incident happened around 12:50PM at 921 Assembly Street and left 2 individuals dead. Raja A. Fayad was found dead in an office on the 4th floor of the Arnold Public Health Research Center. An autopsy conducted this morning shows that he died from complications of multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The Coroner stated that information on the second individual will be released after next of kin has been notified by the Coroner‘s office. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continues, however the Coroner stated that all indications are the incident was a Murder-Suicide with the individuals involved having a history together.
