Milestone: SC Aquarium Releases its 150th Sea Turtle

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ The South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston has reached a milestone. On Tuesday, the 150th sea turtle treated at its sea turtle hospital was released into the Atlantic. Six sea turtles rehabilitated at the aquarium were taken to Florida and released at the Cape Canaveral National Seashore. The six turtles were among dozens who were stunned by the cold off New England in November. They were driven to Florida for release because the water is warmer there than off South Carolina this time of year. The aquarium’s Sea Turtle Rescue program has been rehabilitating turtles for 15 years.
