SC Honor Flight Searcing For Vets

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ World War II and Korean War veteran Edward Purcell says he’s blessed to enjoy good health and robust spirit, given his 89 years and the fact he was shot down twice in combat. The retired attorney says he hopes organizers of a May 13th South Carolina Honor Flight can find other veterans like him. He’s joining their trip to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments built in veterans’ honor. Purcell says he’s looking forward to seeing the memorials, which he’s never had a chance to visit. Honor Flight organizers are searching for World War II veterans in South Carolina who are healthy enough to take the tour. Korean War vets are also welcome. The deadline for signup is April 15.
