Man Arrested After Hitting York Officer with Car
YORK, S.C. (AP) _ A Clover man has been arrested after he hit a York police officer with a car. The Herald of Rock Hill reported that 45-year-old Timmy Carl Smith has been charged with assault and public disorderly conduct after the incident in a store parking lot. A police report said officers were called to the store after Smith and a woman began pushing and cursing at each other during a dispute at a check-out line. An officer tried to catch Smith as he walked to his car. Police say that Smith got into his car and backed into the officer. He struck the officer again as he walked around to the side of the car. Smith stopped after the officer pulled his gun. The officer was not seriously hurt.
