Coroner Identifies 18 year old USC Student

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) –The Richland County Coroner has identified the body of an 18 year old USC Student found dead Wednesday. Coroner Gary Watts identified the body as that of 18 Year old Charles Terreni, Jr. of Columbia. Watts says an autopsy conducted Thursday showed no signs of traumatic injury and the final results will be pending toxicology studies. He also stated Watts was a freshman at USC and lived on campus. Terreni was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. On Wednesday, the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity placed the chapter on administrative suspension. Prior to attending USC, Terreni went to Cardinal Newman High School in Columbia, where he also played soccer. In a statement released by the High School Thursday, his former soccer coach says “Everybody knew and loved Charlie. He represented Cardinal Newman well, as both a student and as an athlete. He will be missed.” The Columbia Police Department continues to investigate the incident. PREVIOUS STORY: Authorities said an 18-year-old male victim was found dead at 2319 Lee Street at approximately 10:30AM Wednesday. The Coroner’s Office said there were no signs of trauma, but are calling the death ‘suspicious.’ Toxicology test results are pending. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday. The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity has released the following statement concerning the death. “The International Fraternity was notified of the tragic loss of a member of the Xi Chapter at The University of South Carolina. The International Fraternity has put the Chapter on administrative suspension and the chapter has ceased operations and is cooperating with all ongoing investigations.
