Gift Card Scam Alert

Lexington County (WOLO)-The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office is warning the elderly in our community about a possible scam that has already cost a 75- year-old-man 4-thousand dollars. Deputies say someone called the victim pretending to be with The Sheriff’s Department…. and asked the man to buy grocery store gift cards totaling in 4-thousand dollars in order to resolve legal problems involving his grandson. Detectives determined that the 75-year-old man‘s grandson was not in any legal trouble.
