Sumter Scam Warning

(WOLO) SUMTER,S.C., — The Sumter Sheriff’s Department is asking residents to be aware of a scam that’s once again making the rounds. Authorities say they’ve received numerous reports of people getting calls from someone claiming to be with the Department and telling them they have an arrest warrant that can be lifted with a payment over the phone. The Sheriff’s department says they never make calls of this nature, and never ask for payments of any kind over the phone. If you get a call like this you’re asked to call the Sumter Sheriff’s Department. (Source: The Sumter Sheriff’s Department)
