Teen Drowning

(WOLO) GREER, S.C., — Authorities say a Greer High School student has died after he attempted to swim across a lake to reach a popular diving spot with some friends. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says 17-year-old Treven J. Tolliver was among a group of teenagers Friday who decided to swim on Lake Keowee out to Falls Creek Island and a popular dive spot known as The Rock, described as a 20-foot-tall boulder on the side of the island. County Emergency Services Director Scott Klein said rescue crews were alerted to a possible drowning around 5:22 p.m. Divers searched for 40 minutes before recovering Tolliver’s body from a depth of 26 feet. Klein said Tolliver was taken to a Greenville hospital, where he died. Addis said the incident appears to have been an accident. (Source: Associated Press)
