Rally to remove Flag underway at State House

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– A rally to urge lawmakers to remove the Confederate Flag from State House Grounds is underway. City Leaders from Charleston made the trip to Columbia to help lead the rally. “I am so proud, our citizens don’t care about the heat, don’t care if it’s raining, we just care about getting this flag down!”-rally speaker State Senator Kimpson applauded elected officials on both sides of the aisle working together to work on this issue. Governor Nikki Haley is urging lawmakers to heed her call to remove the Confederate Flag, but the General Assembly needs a 2/3 vote to make that happen. Proponents of removing the flag will gather and march on the State House Steps to urge lawmakers to take what they’re calling swift action to remove the flag.
