CLEMSON, S.C. — Starting Clemson Offensive Guard Eric Mac Lain seemed comfortable with the Tigers’ preseason ranking. “I think you’ve seen it on the social media: the expectation of winning the ACC, all this preseason hype. But we’re just excited and ready to spot the ball,” Mac Lain said Thursday night at the South Carolina Coaches for Charity event, where Mac Lain was honored with an award. USA Today’s preseason poll has the Tigers ranked 12th in the nation. “I think number 12 is a very respectable number for the Tigers. But we understand that it’s a preseason ranking. We understand that that was last year’s team, and we’ve done nothing yet.” Clemson begins practice Tuesday August 4 and opens the season with Wofford Sept. 5 at 12:30 p.m. in Clemson.
