Man’s body found in river in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police in Asheville are trying to determine the cause of death for a man whose body was found in the French Broad River.

Police spokeswoman Christina Hallingse told local media outlets that officers were called to the river around 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Hallingse says the victim was 55-year-old Robert Lee Richardson Jr.

She said an autopsy is planned to help determine the cause of death.

No other details were immediately available.
