ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) — The superintendent of Orangeburg Consolidated School Five, submitted her resignation Tuesday at the district’s school board meeting, officials say. OCSD5 Public Relations Director Bill Clark told ABC Columbia that “Dr. Cynthia Wilson has accepted an offer of employment elsewhere, but will continue to make herself available to meet the needs of the district until her last day.” Wilson’s resignation will be effective Sept. 30. Wilson, who joined the district in 2010 asked to be released from her contract, during executive session and the board agreed to the request with regret Clark said. According to Clark there will be a special called meeting with the school board on Monday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the district office to discuss hiring an interim superintendent until officials complete the interview and hiring process of a replacement for Wilson. Clark said Wilson will hold at press conference Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the school district’s office located at 578 Ellis Avenue in Orangeburg. Photo courtesy of Bill Clark
