3 former Davidson County animal shelter workers arrested

LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Three former Davidson County animal shelter workers have been arrested after they were indicted on animal cruelty charges earlier this week.

District Attorney Garry Frank told local media that Marissa Studivent was arrested by Lexington police Wednesday night. She had worked at both the Davidson and Guilford county shelters.

Guilford Sheriff’s Col. Randy Powers said former executive Director Marsha Williams and her daughter, Dana Williams-King, turned themselves in to High Point police Thursday.

It was not clear if the women have lawyers.

Each of them faces one felony count of cruelty to animals. Marsha Williams also faces two counts of obstruction of justice and one count of possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for keeping a controlled substance.

Guilford County officials are investigating their shelter.
