Surveillance Video Catches Man Stealing Vehicle

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department are requesting the public’s assistance identifying a suspect wanted for motor vehicle theft.

Sheriff Leon Lott said that just after 1 p.m. on Monday, November 23, deputies responded to Wash World in the 1600 block of Leesburg Road in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Officials say the vehicle belonged to a woman who returned to the business to get the remainder of her clothing, Sheriff Lott said.

In the surveillance video the suspect can be seen entering the vehicle and driving off.

The vehicle is described as a silver and black 1994 Chevrolet Caprice with South Carolina tag KNU 642.

The suspect is described as a black male, medium build, wearing a brown thick jumpsuit suit over a dark colored hoodie, and a dark ball cap.
