COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Columbia is backing hometown NASCAR truck racer Jordan Anderson this season.
The Columbia Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau and Columbia Regional Sports Council announced a partnership Wednesday with Bolen Motorsports and Anderson.
Anderson, Bolen Motorsports and Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism, umbrella group for the CVB and Sports Council, unveiled the agreement at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte.
Anderson said by phone the deal means the city will be the primary sponsor of his car for about half the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races and an associate sponsor after that.
Anderson, who finished 19th last year in his first season racing the truck series, is from Columbia. He said he was gratified that he could carry his hometown on his car.
