Martin: “You Don’t Compete and be a Nice Guy”
COLUMBIA, S.C. — After Carolina’s (19-2, 6-2 SEC) 78-64 win over Alabama Saturday night at Colonial Life Arena, the two teams, which combined accumulated 49 personal fouls, exchanged heated words during the postgame handshake.
“That’s why in the NBA, they kinda just point at each other,” said USC head coach Frank Martin Saturday. “When the game is over, there’s a team that won and a team that lost. Both teams are still juiced up.”
Aside from Alabama’s (11-9, 2-6 SEC) 30 personal fouls, the Tide was issued a bench warning in the first half and technical foul on Retin Obasohan late in the second half.
“You don’t compete and be a nice guy,” said Martin. “Our team respects them and I think they respect us.”
