17-Year-Old Charged with Multiple Counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — A Gaston teen is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy.

17-year-old Dewayne Hendrix has been charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor

Officials say that on January 17 a family member of the 13-year-old female notified the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office that the young girl had been sexually assaulted by Hendrix at residence in Lugoff.

A day later, the mother of a 12-year-old boy told investigators that her son had told her that Hendrix had sexually assaulted him over an extended period of time, officials say.

Following his arrest, authorities say Hendrix admitted to assaulting the victims and also to two additional sexual assaults for which additional warrants were obtained.

He is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center and will appear before a Circuit Court judge for a bond hearing at a later date.

Hendrix has no record of any previous arrests.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said. “Hendrix obviously has some serious issues. He needs to be incarcerated and have no contact with young children. This investigation is not over by any means.”
