City of Columbia to Celebrate Black History Month with Extravaganza

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the public to celebrate Black History Month at the Black History Extravaganza.

The event will be held on Monday, Feb. 15 at Greenview Park.

This year’s guest speakers are Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine, and media personality Cynthia Hardy.

Councilwoman Devine is the first African-American female to serve on City Council and the first African-American to be elected At-Large.

WHO: The Black History Extravaganza is open to youth, adults and seniors age 55 and older.

WHERE:  Greenview Park, 6700 David Street, Columbia, SC 29203

WHEN:  Monday, February 15, 2016 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

COST: Tickets are $5 per person. Lunch will be provided. The event will include exhibitors, vendors, live entertainment and more.

Tickets can be purchased at any recreation center or the Parks and Recreation Department Administration Office, 1111 Parkside Drive.
