Frank Martin Calls Out Poll Voters After LSU Game

COLUMBIA, S.C. — After Carolina’s 94-83 win over LSU Wednesday night, Frank Martin was blunt with his opening comments.

“That’s a high-level game,” Martin said. “This is the part that frustrates me: You have two teams that are that good, and they’re first and second in the league, and neither team is ranked.”

Martin and the Gamecocks fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 poll this week, after losing to Georgia in Athens Tuesday and defeating #8 Texas A&M in College Station Saturday evening.

“How those two teams aren’t ranked nationally, it makes no sense,” Martin continued. “What other BCS league in the country has the first place team playing the second place team and neither team is ranked? That’s frustrating to me.”

Carolina improved to 21-3, 8-3 in the SEC Wednesday with a win over LSU (15-9, 8-3). With the win, the Gamecocks have moved into a tie for first place in the SEC standings with Kentucky, also tied for first in the conference, coming to Columbia Saturday for a tilt with Carolina.

“The only thing that matters now is the next game,” said Martin. “I’ve got to go home now and be up all night and watch Kentucky on film, and that’s really easy too.”
