VIDEO: Flood Victim Back in Renovated Home
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Flood victim Jennifer Gneiser is back in her home for the first time in a long time.
Gneiser and her two sons were forced to leave four months ago when flood waters closed in on their Pine Glen home.
According to Gneiser, “It was hard after the flood but when you have to go back through and rip out every thing it was like another blow everything that came out was one more blow.I didn’t ever think it would be put back together.”
With new floors, doors and walls, thanks to the combined efforts of the St.Bernard Project, the United Way and the Mungo Foundation, she says the home is a dream come true.
Gneiser’s home is repaired and ready to live in again but all you have to do is look next door to see that for many, recovery is far from over.
Together the organizations are working to make that happen but say it’s not possible without resources.
Mac Bennett, President of the United Way of the Midlands says, “We need volunteers we need financial resources to help continue this process a lot of work to do we need the community support to get it done.”
The completed work is greatly appreciated by recipients like Gneiser who lost so much in the floods.
