Windy Wednesday
It sure was windy here today. Here’s one example of a half of a tree on top of a taxi on Maple Street in Columbia. Fortunately no one was hurt. The strongest winds that I was able to locate today were 57 mph in downtown Columbia, 56 mph at Lake Murray, and 53 mph at Columbia Metro Airport. But as messy as it was, it could have been much worse. This radar image, taken at 6:30 pm shows how bad things are from the Pee Dee, eastern North Carolina, and Virginia.
By my count there are 7 Tornado Warnings (red boxes) and lots of Severe Thunderstorms (yellow boxes). Unfortunately, as the night unfolds, we are sure to get verification of damage from these storms.
